What it is
The technique
Electro-acupuncture connects pairs of needles to a small device that sends a mild, rhythmic pulse between them. It feels like a soft tingling or gentle twitching rather than anything sharp. Because it recruits more nerve fibres than needles alone, it prompts a stronger release of the body's own pain-relieving chemicals and calms the signals carrying pain to the spinal cord.

What to expect
